Studio - Shortcut Keys

For users with a hardware keyboard, frequently used functions can be accessed via shortcut keys. The following list details all hotkeys available within Embird Studio Next.

CTRL
In vectorization mode, constrains new lines and curves to precise horizontal, vertical, or diagonal increments in edit/create mode. When used with Shapes, it creates a perfect circle or square. Note that the CTRL key functions differently in lettering mode and the User Pattern Editor.
CTRL
Allows for the selection of multiple, non-contiguous items within the Object Inspector list.
Shift
Allows for the selection of multiple, contiguous (sequential) items within the Object Inspector list.
CTRL+1
Zooms the view to fit the selected object(s).
CTRL+2
Zooms to the selected object(s) and simultaneously activates node editing mode.
CTRL+A
Selects all objects in transformation mode.
CTRL+Shift+A
Deselects all objects in transformation mode.
CTRL+Shift+E
Opens the Export Design dialog window.
CTRL+B
Creates a backward path for the selected outline objects.
CTRL+C
Copies selected objects to the clipboard.
CTRL+D
Duplicates the selected objects.
CTRL+E
Switches the selected object(s) into node editing mode.
CTRL+G
Generates stitches for all selected objects.
CTRL+I
Imports a raster image into the background.
CTRL+M
Merges an external file into the current design.
CTRL+N
Creates a new design file.
CTRL+O
Opens an existing design.
CTRL+P
Opens the Parameters window for the selected object.
CTRL+Q
Compiles the design, sends it to Embird Modder, and exits Studio. Compiles the design, sends it to Embird Editor, and exits Studio.
CTRL+S
Saves the current design.
CTRL+U
Inserts text using Embird Alphabets.
CTRL+V
Pastes objects from the clipboard.
CTRL+W
Launches the main Settings window.
CTRL+Y
Redoes the last undone action.
CTRL+Z
Undoes the previous action.
CTRL+INSERT
Creates a manual connection to the previous object.
CTRL+ALT+INSERT
Creates a smart connection to the previous object.
CTRL+F1
In editing mode, aligns the object's start point to the end point of the previous object.
CTRL+F2
In editing mode, aligns the object's end point to the start point of the next object.
CTRL+F3
In editing mode, aligns the start of the current outline to the start of the previous outline object.
CTRL+ALT+A
Displays the Align Objects window.
CTRL+ALT+B
Displays Background Filters (Image color adjustments).
CTRL+ALT+C
Moves selected objects to the center of the Work Area.
CTRL+ALT+D
CTRL+ALT+E
In editing mode, creates a second edge parallel to the primary edge.
CTRL+ALT+I
Displays the Edit Image window.
CTRL+ALT+O
Converts a fill object into an outline.
CTRL+ALT+T
Displays the Transformations window.
CTRL+ALT+U
Opens User Editors.
CTRL+Shift+3
Toggles the fabric visibility in the 3D preview.
CTRL+Shift+F
Toggles the visibility of jump stitches.
CTRL+Shift+H
Toggles the visibility of the embroidery hoop.
CTRL+Shift+K
Opens the thread catalog to change the color of a selected vector object.
CTRL+Shift+T
Opens the thread catalog window to select the default catalog. The Thread List is then generated based on this selection.
CTRL+Shift+U
Inserts text via the Embird Font Engine (TrueType conversion).

Snap-aligns the start of the current object to the end of the previous object during creation or editing.

Snap-aligns the second start point (for column objects) to the end of the previous object.

In outline mode, this key finishes the object, creates a backward path, and joins them into a single object in one step.
e
Adds a new straight line segment to the edge in creation/editing mode.
r
Adds a new straight line segment to the second edge (column objects) in creation/editing mode.
d
Adds a new curve segment to the edge in creation/editing mode.
f
Adds a new curve segment to the second edge (column objects).
i
Adjusts the first zigzag underlay angle for a fill object.
o
Adjusts the second zigzag underlay angle for a fill object.
p
Adjusts the top cover stitch angle for a fill object.
Space
Finalizes the creation or editing of an object.
Esc
Cancels the current operation or closes a dialog window.
Enter
Confirms settings in a dialog window.
arrow keys + SHIFT
Scrolls the Work Area.
arrow keys + ALT + CTRL
Moves selected objects in transform mode or shifts the active node in edit mode.

Zooms out.
+
Zooms in.
Page Up
Zooms out.
Page Down
Zooms in.
SHIFT + Page Up
Moves selected objects forward in the stitching order.
SHIFT + Page Down
Moves selected objects backward in the stitching order.
Delete
Deletes selected objects or nodes.
Insert
Inserts a new element before the currently selected node.
SHIFT + End
Adds a Segment End at the selected node (cannot be used on the midpoint of a curve).
ALT
Refer to the Lettering chapter for ALT key functions in text mode.
ALT+2
Simulates a right-click to invoke context menus. Useful for stylus/pen users.
ALT+B
Toggles object contour visibility.
ALT+D
Toggles the background gridSHC.
ALT+F
Toggles visibility of fill objects.
ALT+G
Toggles visibility of guidelines.
ALT+L
Toggles visibility of standard columns.
ALT+M
Toggles visibility of manual stitch objects.
ALT+N
Toggles visibility of columns with patterns.
ALT+O
Toggles visibility of outline objects.
ALT+Q
Toggles visibility of appliqués.
ALT+R
Toggles visibility of the rulers.
ALT+S
Toggles visibility of generated stitches.
ALT+U
Toggles visibility of Sfumato objects.
ALT+V
Toggles visibility of carving lines.
ALT+W
Toggles visibility of one-way outlines.
ALT+X
Toggles visibility of connection paths.
ALT+Y
Snaps the active node to the nearest existing node.
ALT+F1
Activates the Select tool.
ALT+F2
Activates the Node Edit tool.
ALT+F3
Activates the Zoom tool.

Initiates a new Opening (hole).

Double-click on Working Area
Starts a new object of the same type as the last one created, speeding up repetitive digitizing tasks.
Right mouse button + drag cursor
Temporarily activates the Pan tool. Release to return to the previous tool. Useful for quick navigation without using scroll bars.
Double-click object icon in Object Inspector
Triggers stitch generation for the specific object double-clicked in the list.
Home
In node mode: Selects the first node of the current edge.
End
In node mode: Selects the last node of the current edge.
CTRL+Home
In node mode: Selects the previous node in the sequence.
CTRL+End
In node mode: Selects the next node in the sequence.
a + Left-click
Activates Fast Node Insertion, allowing you to add new nodes after any selected node rather than just at the end of the path.
