Interactive Transformations

Transformations like resizing, moving, rotation, and skewing are very common operations. These operations can be performed interactively with the tool described below, or with the numeric controls accessible in the Transformations Window.

This chapter deals with the transformations performed interactively in the Work Area of Studio NEXT.

The first step is to select the objects that will be transformed. You can select individual or multiple objects either in the Work Area or in the Object Inspector. Another way to select multiple objects is by using a Marquee Box.

Selection with Marquee Box

When Studio is in the common Selection/Transform mode, place cursor on some empty space in the Work Area. Press the primary button of the mouse. While holding the button down, move cursor to another place, then realease the button. Doing this, you will create a marquee box that selects objects inside itself.

There are two ways to select objects using a marquee box:

Selection with Marquee Box
  1. Drag the marquee box from left to right to select objects even if they are not completely enclosed by the box.
  2. Drag the marquee box from right to left to select only those objects that lie completely within the box.
