Stippling is a loose fill created with a meandering stitch path.
It is similar to free-motion quilting or drawing with thread. The stitches are usually made in a random or seamlessly repeating pattern to produce a loose texture. Stippling can be used to add depth and dimension to embroidery designs. It is particularly popular in designs like fabric textures, borders, or background fills for larger areas.
In Studio NEXT, the stippling fill is created with the Mesh Tool using modes like Net > Fractal, Stippling, and Tiles > Blackwork . These mesh modes allow the creation of a number of stippling patterns with single or multiple layers of stitches. The stippling path can be converted to outline objects and decorated with outline samples or other outline techniques available in Studio.
