This is a sub-chapter of the Mesh Parameters chapter.
The Stippling is a decorative fill technique that uses a continuous path to create a meandering pattern. It mimics the "stippling" used in traditional hand-quilting, where "wandering" lines are sewn to hold layers of fabric and batting together without creating a rigid or dense area of stitches. Because stippling consists of a single path with significant space between the lines, it results in a very low stitch count and a soft, flexible texture.
This page provides a detailed overview of the Stippling parameters available for Mesh objects in Embird Studio NEXT. It details two primary categories of stippling fills: Necklace, which incorporates font characters or library glyphs along the stitch path, and Maze, which generates a simple meandering fill. This guide covers the technical settings for each mode, including gap control, glyph manipulation, layout selection, and single-layer stitching options.
Category - Select the method for generating the stippling path: A) Necklace or B) Maze.
The Necklace mode enables the addition of glyphs from a built-in library or installed fonts along the stippling path. The gap between branches varies around the specified median value. The Maze mode creates a continuous meandering path with a uniform gap between the meander lines.

The following tabs are available in Necklace mode:
Kind - Select from predefined stippling paths or create a custom path using library and font glyphs.
Average Gap - The median width of the negative space between meanders. The actual gap fluctuates above and below this set value.
Single Layer - Consult the Mesh Parameters chapter for information regarding the Single Layer switch.
Glyph Spacing > Step - Defines the frequency of glyph placement along the stitch path.
Direction - Specifies the orientation of glyphs (forward, backward, alternate, or random) as they are placed along the path.
Random Glyph Order - When multiple glyphs are selected, this control randomizes their sequence along the path.
Reverse Glyph Order - When multiple glyphs are selected, this control swaps their current sequence along the path.
Span - Defines the coverage of the fill relative to the object boundaries. Options include Overflow, Cropped, and Interior. In Overflow mode, object contours can be excluded from the mesh via the Common Settings tab.
Interior fill, contours excluded
Font - Choose the typeface from which glyphs will be selected.
Text - Input one or more characters (letters, dingbats, or clipart symbols) from the selected font to be used as glyphs.
Bold - Enables the bold font style, provided the selected typeface supports this attribute.
Italic - Enables the italic font style, provided the selected typeface supports this attribute.
Angle - Adjusts the rotation of the glyphs relative to the direction of the stippling path.
Glyphs - Select one or multiple predefined shapes from the internal library.
In Maze mode, three primary controls are available:
Kind - Select between contour, radial, or random meander layouts for the maze structure.
Gap - The physical width of the empty space between the meander lines.
Single Layer - Consult the Mesh Parameters chapter for information regarding the Single Layer switch.
