The auto-repeat tool enables the automatic duplication and arrangement of one or more objects in a repeating sequence. This sequence can follow a straight line, a circular layout, or other types of transformations.
This tool is accessible via main menu > Build in selection/transform mode.
The Auto Repeat ... command opens a window with options to duplicate selected objects along a line, around a circle or rectangle, or to fill a rectangular area. It is possible to set the distance (gap) between the objects.
You can also choose whether you want to preserve the orientation of the objects or if you want to mirror them vertically and horizontally and rotate them to be parallel to the baseline.
An instant preview of the potential result appears in the Layout panel and also in the Work Area.
In this example, the triangle at the top was auto-repeated 8 times around the circle. Clones were transformed to be parallel to the baseline (i.e., the circle).
Another example: a rectangular repetitive pattern with rotation and a gap between the object's clones.
Note: The gap value, which affects the distance between clones, can also be set to a negative value.
