The Auto Repeat tool enables the automated duplication and arrangement of one or more objects into a repeating sequence. These sequences can follow linear paths, circular layouts, or other specified transformations.
This tool is accessible via Main Menu > Build while in selection/transform mode.
The Auto Repeat... command opens a configuration window with options to duplicate selected objects along a line, around a circle or rectangle, or as a fill for a rectangular area. Users can specify the exact distance (gap) between the resulting objects.
Additionally, settings are available to either preserve the original orientation of the objects or to apply vertical and horizontal mirroring. Objects can also be rotated automatically to remain parallel to the baseline of the path.
An instant preview of the configuration is displayed in both the Layout panel and the Work Area.
In this example, the initial triangle was repeated eight times around a circular path. The clones were transformed to remain parallel to the baseline (the circle circumference).
In this instance, a rectangular repetitive pattern is shown with specific rotation settings and defined gaps between object clones.
Note: The gap value, which determines the spacing between clones, can be set to a negative value to create overlapping effects.
