This tutorial explains how to create basting stitches around an existing design in Embird Editor. These stitches might be used together with Effect and Fill Closed Contours features to create various filled shapes around the design.
1 - Run the Embird program.
2 - Select the "Embird" menu to switch to Editor.
3 - Select the "File > Open" menu to open an existing design (Picture No. 1).

4 - Select the "Insert > Basting Stitches" menu (Picture No. 2).

5 - Choose the basting stitches shape in the dialog box that appears on the screen (Picture No. 3).

6 - Basting stitches of the chosen shape will be inserted into the work area (Picture No. 4).

7 - Select the "Insert > Effect" menu to insert another shape into the work area - the design contour (Picture No. 5).

8 - Specify the stitch length for the contour (Picture No. 6).

9 - The new contour will appear around the design (Picture No. 7).

10 - Select both new contours and then click the "Edit > Split/Join > Join" menu to join them into a single object (Picture No. 8).

11 - Select the "Insert > Fill Closed Contours" menu to fill the new object with stitches (Picture No. 9).

12 - Choose the Motif fill type for this object (Picture No. 10).

13 - The shape is filled with stitches (Picture No. 11).
